The alternative sad-pop band Pinkish Blu quickly established themselves in the Adelaide music scene in 2017 with their popular first single release, “Hung Up”.
After only playing a handful of shows, the ‘feelsy’ four piece has already shared the stage with bands such as Last Dinosaurs, The Rubens, Trophy Eyes, Kingswood, Delta Riggs, and WAAX. The end of 2017 saw Pinkish Blu take a step back from live shows to work on their next release. In 2018, Pinkish Blu have brought their singles “Lovely” and “Capricorn” to life with ‘2017 ARIA Producer of the Year’ Adrian Breakspear (Gang of Youths, Pharrell Williams), both of which went on to gain triple j play. The band were also selected to play Groovin’ The Moo 2019 as the Unearthed winners, joining the line-up alongside acts such as Billie Eilish, AURORA, Hilltop Hoods and Thelma Plum.
The band has been able to develop their sound by taking influences from post-punk, 80s new-wave and synth-pop to create their emotional, dreamy and brutally honest music. The gentle Adelaide quartet create constellations of sad 80s-inspired dream-pop, resplendent with sparkling synths and juicy jangle, and have been compared to M83 and The 1975.
The PR Files were honoured to work with Pinkish Blu alongside 123 Music and Sony Music Australia on their 2019 releases.
