Australian artist Ben Gillies has just revealed his latest track release “Dangerous Distractions,” his forthcoming single off his soon to be released EP. Well versed in the realm of Australian Pop and Rock, Ben is further creating his own individual and unique sound.
Ben Gillies started learning to play drums at the age of eight and has been writing songs since childhood. He co-wrote many Silverchair songs, including their first hit, “Tomorrow”. Silverchair released five albums, which all reached #1 on the Australian charts, and won 21 ARIA awards, still the most won by any artist. A dynamic and irresistible live act from the start, Silverchair toured the world, and Australia, several times. In the years after the release of Silverchair’s most recent album, Young Modern, Gillies formed the band Bento and released Diamond Days, an album of 12 crisp songs that showcased his excellent pop, rock and melodic sensibilities.
The first single of Gillies passion project “Breathe In, Breathe Out”, an immediately memorable song that reminds us to pay attention to ourselves, to the people around us and to the world. The track showed the promise and accomplished new direction that seeped into follow up singles “One Foot in Front of The Other”, “Yesteryear” and now “Dangerous Distractions”.
Over the past five years Gillies has been creating songs for a new body of work, and drawing on his experience with only drums but guitar and piano, all instruments he has played since childhood.
The PR Files is excited to be working with Ben Gillies as he shares his next chapter with the world!
