Aya Yves is the new project of singer/songwriter Vendulka, who has transcended her folk-pop background into this anomalous electronic realm. Born from a love of pushing boundaries and breaking expectations, Aya contrasts light airy vocals with dark, brooding soundscapes.
“(in)Sanity”, the debut release from Aya Yves, was a collaboration with Australian producer Xavier Dunn, whose impressive catalogue also crosses genres and styles (Jack River, CXLOE, Graace, Carmada, Peking Duk). The single was promptly added to rotation on triple j Unearthed and praised by PileRats, Project U TV, Women In Pop, Don’t Bore Us and more.
Girl power anthem “Smart Girls”, co-written with Bri Clark and Jordi White, was our second helping of Aya Yves, and was exclusively premiered by triple j Unearthed. A quirky take on the dark-pop genre, “Smart Girls” showcases Aya Yves’ smooth and dreamy vocals, punctuated by percussive production (courtesy of Xavier Dunn) and a killer hook.
