Australian-South African singer-songwriter Thandi Phoenix pronunciation ( Tuhn-dee) has released her new summer hit, "Hot Sauce”, produced by Arona Mane. The track is the first taste from Thandi’s upcoming EP, REBIRTH, where she explores themes of self-discovery, growth, and evolution while showcasing her signature mix of genres and styles, set to be released in mid-2023.
"Hot Sauce" is a bouncy and confident bop that evokes the feeling of a steamy summer's day. Its bold melodies and catchy rhythms make it a definite winner. Much like its namesake, "Hot Sauce" is spicy and sure to be a hit amongst those with a refined palate. The single follows soon after the pair linked up on “Guarantees”, an R&B-infused dance floor filler at the end of last year.
Thandi says, "I wrote "Hot Sauce" in Sydney last year with Arona Mane. I remember it was a stinking hot day, we were in the studio, and Aaron played me the beat, he said, "see what comes out," then hit record. It was a freestyle that stuck. Lyrically it’s super playful, and the beat captures that summertime feel. Anyone who knows me knows how obsessed I am with hot sauce, so it only felt right to call it that.”
Thandi’s upcoming 5-track EP, REBIRTH, set to release 7th July 2023, will be independently released. Despite facing personal and professional challenges, including the loss of family members and a breakup, Thandi used these experiences to grow and push forward. She stepped away from her major label and took control of her career, becoming a self-managed independent artist. “I got sick of needing approval; I wanted to release the music I loved.”
Thandi Phoenix, who first broke into the mainstream with the hit single "My Way" in 2018, had a string of successful releases and collaborations with big names in dance and pop, including Sigma and Rudimental. In 2021 her collaborations with Mell Hall saw the duo take out the longest reigning female lead #1 on the Australian ARIA Club chart.
She has garnered a reputation for her outstanding high energy live performances and established herself as one of Australia’s best live performers. Playing at festivals such as Splendour In The Grass, Spilt Milk, This That, CurveBall and Womadelaide. As well as being hand picked to perform at the NRL Grand final in 2019 with One Republic, the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in 2018 and FireFight bushfire relief concert in 2020.

Alt-rock/indie-pop banger "WOA" by HOLiDAY became the lovechild of Florence + The Machine and Foals. With a dash of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this funky/but punchy/up-tempo track is all about driving drums, big vocals and bouncy guitar riffs. Inspired by what it means to be an ‘artist’ dealing with social pressure and ultimately celebrating individualism.
HOLiDAY, the rising force in the music industry led by Meg Hitchcock, Jesse Higgs, Michael Townsend and Savannah Higgs, becoming renowned for their infectious energy and anthemic melodies, are now excited to reveal the highly awaited single "WOA." This track, co-produced by the acclaimed Adrian Breakspear, who has been nominated for a GRAMMY and ARIA Award winner (Gang Of Youths, Amy Shark), offers a glimpse into HOLiDAY's diverse musical range and captivating vocals.
Drawing comparisons to recent iconic artists, HOLiDAY has earned the endearing title of "the lovechild of Florence + The Machine and Foals," thanks to their defining sound. With a seamless fusion of gritty alternative rock, heartfelt indie pop, and the enchanting blend of female and male vocals, HOLiDAY stands out among celebrated joint lead vocal groups. Adrian Breakspear describes them as "a modern-day Fleetwood Mac with hints of The XX."
"WOA" is a funky but driving, up-tempo track that encapsulates the essence of HOLiDAY's journey thus far. The song represents the band's realisation that life is meant to be taken too seriously, but also pursue your passions. With influences ranging from Meg Hitchcock's enchanting Florence Welch vocal tone to Jesse Higgs's energetic guitar riffs reminiscent of Foals and Red Hot Chili Peppers, HOLiDAY has crafted a dreamboat of an alt-rock banger.
The writing process for "WOA" was a treasure hunt for HOLiDAY, as they pieced together elements from each member throughout 2020-2022. The song incorporates lost lyrics originally written in 2016, groovy off-beat bass lines, accidental ping pong guitar delay, and even an elusive 80s drum machine. With Adrian Breakspear's production genius and Leon Zervous' mastering expertise at Studios 301, "WOA" has become a melting pot of HOLiDAY's biggest influences.
Based in the creative vortex of Byron Bay, HOLiDAY is currently working on defining their debut Album, which promises to be sonically diverse and of deep artistic commitment from the group, as they pull together what has been referenced as a concept album by the band. 2017 saw American rock band Queens Of The Stone Age release VILLAINS, their seventh studio album which included the singles “The Way You Used To Do” and “The Evil Has Landed”, which was premiered by Zane Lowe as his World Record on Beats #1.
Produced by Mark Ronson, “The Evil Has Landed” saw Queens on classic form in a monstrous six and a half minute epic. Melding fuzzed out melodic guitars, trademark falsetto vocals and lyrics of hedonistic abandon, the tracks’ grinding groove giving way to a gloriously full blown boogie.
The PR Files were proud to work on the PR for radio for these tracks ,in conjunction with Remote Control Records.

Renowned singer, instrumentalist, and songwriter Sarah Belkner is back with new single, "Salt". Inspired by the power of water and its ability to dissolve troubles, "Salt" invites listeners to rediscover their personal place in the world and reignite their passions.
Sarah Belkner often writes her lyrics throughout her daily life, drawing inspiration from her extensive touring experiences across Australia and the UK. While travelling between shows and soundchecks, Belkner refined her lyrics, delving into thoughts on creativity and the human experience.
"Salt" is a captivating preview of Belkner's forthcoming album, THE APPLE, out later this year, most of which was recorded before the global pandemic disrupted the world. Initially planning to release after her previous album, BUT YOU ARE, BUT IT HAS, a series of profound personal challenges abruptly halted Belkner's plans. However, she found comfort and resilience within her music, recognising the unintentional time capsule she had created just before the world changed.
The recording process for her upcoming album, THE APPLE, captured the peak of the connection between Belkner and her band. Live takes were used for the band tracks, following intense rehearsals during old-school pre-production sessions. Departing from the layered approach of her previous album, Belkner embraced simplicity, with drums, bass, synth, saxophone, and vocals forming the core elements of the new songs.
Sarah Belkner's musical journey has garnered widespread acclaim, starting with her debut solo album, BUT YOU ARE, BUT IT HAS, released in 2017. Produced by Belkner and her husband, Richard Belkner, the album was celebrated as Double J's Album of the Week. The "Cellophane" music video filmed in London by Brian Fairbarn & Karl Eccleston premiered exclusively on Rolling Stone. At the same time, her song "Susanne" left an indelible mark in a pivotal scene of the hit series Offspring.
In addition to her solo work, Sarah Belkner has established herself as a sought-after touring musician and musical director, collaborating with esteemed artists such as Missy Higgins, Neil Finn, Sarah Blasko, OLYMPIA, NGAIIRE, and Tim Minchin. Her musical direction for Tim Minchin's show "BACK" earned them the prestigious Helpmann Award for Best Contemporary Tour in 2019.

Furthermore, she co-wrote and produced Brendan Maclean's debut album, "And The Boyfriends" (2019), which reached #2 on the iTunes chart. She lent her production expertise to Leah Flanagan's album, "Colour By Number" (2020), which scored Double J's Album of the Week.

KARLOU, an indie pop artist who found her musical footing on the Sunshine Coast in 2019, has made a name for herself with her unique sound, drawing inspiration from artists like MAY-A, Ruel, and Renforshort. Her pop melodies are relatable and capture the highs and lows of everyday life.
“Bed Arrest” is KARLOU's latest offering, inspired by her experience with sleepwalking. "I have always been a tragic sleepwalker," says KARLOU. "I'd often find myself in different places doing ordinary things and also stuck in vivid dreams, waking up in a panic - so much that I was afraid to fall asleep at night. Bed Arrest is a play on words of getting a 'better rest' and also the insinuation that I should be kept restrained to my bed."
Taking on inspiration from Dominic Fike, KARLOU entered the writing session with Matt McGuffie (IVEY) to birth a dreamy anthem flowing into an edgy yet propelling chorus. Struck with raging, simultaneous guitars coinciding with a lyrical double-entendre, KARLOU expresses the feeling of getting ‘a better rest’.
Swiftly evolving from that safe space to performing live and unleashing her energetic charisma on stage. Expelling notions of memorable hooks and dynamic grooves, she has gone on to support the likes of Rubens, Sycco, Hope D and most recently, Mia Wray.
KARLOU's single, "Bitter", has been a great success, with over 30,000 streams on Spotify within the first month of release and landing on Spotify Editorial Playlists: Fresh Finds and AU/NZ Pop-Fresh Finds. Triple J's Dave Ruby Howe said, "Really love the change-ups that KARLOU takes on this track, giving us the ups and downs of angsty teen drama."
The PR Files is thrilled to be working with KARLOU on her upcoming releases.
Newcomer Melbourne-based artist Yasmin de Laine reveals her new single "Laura Elsa", taken from her upcoming debut EP, EACH HEART DEVOURS THE OTHER, out May 2023.
"Laura Elsa" is a gothic folk tune written by Yasmin de Laine, featuring soulful vocals and banjo accompanied by the rich, emotive sound of Anita Quayle on cello and Shane Rielly on pedal steel. The song tells the tale of a young woman caught up in a moment of intense emotion and fury, inspired by a true story shared with Yasmin by her grandmother.
With its evocative lyrics and haunting melodies, "Laura Elsa" invites listeners to explore the darker corners of the human experience, where anger, grief, and a thirst for justice collide. Drawing on the tradition of old-time murder ballads, the song also explores themes of female rage and retribution, as well as the enduring power of small-town whispers and stories that have been forgotten by time. "Laura Elsa" is a haunting and powerful ballad that will leave a lasting impression on all who hear it.
The track was recorded, mixed, and produced by AJ Bradford at Tender Trap Studios and masterfully finished by Timothy Stollenwerk at Stereophonic Recordings, making it a standout addition to any playlist.
Speaking on the track, Yasmin says, “Laura Elsa is inspired by a true story my grandmother told me about an event during her childhood in small-town rural Australia. This song intersects my love for old-time murder ballads, my desire for more stories about female rage and retribution, and my fascination for small-town whispers and stories that time has forgotten.”
Born and raised in South Australia, Yasmin is known for her eerie mix of swamp blues and gothic alt-rock, which she performs both as the frontwoman of the post-hardcore band Lua and in her solo work.
The upcoming EP is an emotional journey that delves into the themes of familial bonds and the nature of our creator at the end of the world.
It features the haunting gothic folk tune "Laura Elsa," written and performed by Yasmin and featuring soulful vocals and banjo, as well as the emotive sounds of cello by Anita Quayle and pedal steel by Shane Rielly. The track tells the story of a young woman caught up in a moment of intense emotion and fury, inspired by a true story shared with Yasmin by her grandmother.
Keep an eye out for more from Yasmin de Laine, a promising new talent in the world of gothic folk.
Danny Barwick, Melbourne's acclaimed producer and singer-songwriter, has released his highly anticipated debut album, ILUKA. The album is a vivid cinematic and textural masterpiece, drawing inspiration from the luscious natural surroundings of a tiny fishing village in Northern NSW.
ILUKA is a musical, literary, and cinematic experience that combines neoclassical and folk influences with narrative storytelling. Drawing inspiration from musical heroes including Aldous Harding, Leonard Cohen, Nils Frahm, Bill Callahan, and Nick Cave, the album explores long form narrative storytelling set to gentle piano playing, atmospheric guitar textures, rich string arrangements, and warm woodwinds.
Danny moved to ILUKA in 2019 and spent a year in the village writing music. The ocean and rainforest provided a peaceful and soothing backdrop for his writing. He allowed influences from films and books to enter his music, resulting in longer and more narratively driven songs. "I moved from Melbourne to a tiny fishing village in northern NSW. It's a spot where 1700 people are nestled between a long, windswept coastline and a rainforest that runs right up to the shoreline. I got a job driving the shuttle bus at the local bowls club and wrote music almost daily. I soon saw that having the ocean and forest to myself allowed a gentler, soothing sound to come through. I've been as inspired by films and books as I have been by music, and the more I wrote in Iluka, the more I allowed these influences to come in as well. The songs became longer, more narrative, and as much of a literary and cinematic experience as a musical one. Two years later, I returned to Melbourne to record the music with several of my childhood musical heroes. Then I took these recordings with me as I backpacked around Latin America for a year, finishing material on planes, trains, and buses around the continent," says Danny.
We are thrilled to be working with Danny on ILUKA, which is set to be a breakthrough album for his unique combination of soothing soundscapes and compelling lyrical storytelling set to captivate audiences worldwide.

Tasmanian-born, Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Bec Stevens released her studio album BIG WORRY, out now. The highly-anticipated LP is a personal and emotional journey through Steven’s experiences and struggles – particularly over the last several years of her life – and serves as both a grand-scale introduction to newer fans and a long-term payoff to those that have followed the troubadour’s ascent across pubs, clubs, record stores and house shows throughout the last decade.
With the help of co-producers Jonathon Tooke (Cry Club) and Ben Stewart (Slowly Slowly) – as well as engineers Jarred Nettle and Samuel Sproull – Stevens has crafted a beautifully raw and honest record that showcases her incredible songwriting abilities. Tooke’s contributions also extended beyond the production boards, collaborating directly with Stevens on the creation of all 12 songs – a decision Stevens has described as the best choice she’s ever made as an artist.
"We spent two days a week in his studio for a whole year,” she says. “Tearing my songs apart, putting them together, and then tearing them apart again until we got it right. Jono opened so many doors for me with my writing. He sat and listened to why each song was important to me and made sure that everyone hit with the impact it needed to. We sat and shed tears in silence multiple times.”
Fans were introduced to the album with the release of its hard-hitting title track back in September of 2022, ahead of Stevens undertaking a sold-out national tour in support of Teenage Joans. The song, which garnered triple j rotation upon release, captures the overwhelming feeling of imposter syndrome in today's society. Stevens says that she “wrote this song during a moment of reflection – not the kind that makes you feel better, but the kind that makes you laugh and ask yourself, 'Who the hell do I think I am?' It's a relatable and honest exploration of the struggles of trying to find your place in the world."
Stevens then followed up “Big Worry” with “A Stranger” last November, which confronts the hangover from a failed relationship. The driving alt-rock cut garnered praise from triple j Unearthed’s Abby Butler, who described the track as “anthemic and wholehearted punk”, and saw Stevens win a competition through the site to perform at the Melbourne iteration of Falls Festival to close out 2023. There, Stevens and her band shared the stage with international acts like CHVRCHES and beloved Australian bands such as Spacey Jane, G Flip, King Stingray, Peach PRC and Beddy Rays.
As Big Worry progresses, Stevens continues to fine-tune her introspective and endearing approach to songwriting – as documented on her two previous EPs, 2016’s More Scared Than Me and 2019’s Why Don’t You Just. She ruminates on trauma with blunt force on “Blackout”, which simultaneously touches on navigating love with a broken heart and the complicated relationship people can have with alcohol. Elsewhere, she dedicates live-show staple “Creep” to “trauma babies”, pondering the weight of trying to exist in a world that may not understand or acknowledge your struggles. "If you are someone who has spent their life shapeshifting and contorting yourself to be able to simply exist, this song is for you," says Stevens.
In a surprising contrast, the emotional peak of Big Worry is found on the only track Stevens herself did not write. "James' Song" was written by the late James McKenzie, a close friend of Stevens’ who tragically took his own life in late 2019. Shortly before his passing, Stevens received the song – which never had an official title – from McKenzie as a voice memo recorded on his phone. Though McKenzie was a keen singer-songwriter like Stevens, he never formally recorded any of his music. Stevens, thus, took it upon herself to ensure the song – and, by proxy, the legacy of her dear friend – lived on in perpetuity.
Stevens recorded the song with Tyler Richardson (Luca Brasi) and James’ brother Marcus, who each lent their vocal harmonies to the track. In addition, a choir of Stevens’ friends join in on the song’s indelible, heart-wrenching hook – which cycles, over and over, the lyric “I’ll let the bad thoughts in”. The choir features artists like Eaglemont, Suzi, Queenie and Leo, as well as members of Melbourne bands Clowns and Steel Wheels. "I'm so grateful to have so many people I love singing with me on this song,” says Stevens.
“When I first heard us all singing together, it felt like a big supportive hug – like all of these people were carrying me through it and holding my hand.”
In its own way, this feeling is paralleled when listening to Big Worry itself. Yes, it’s an exorcism of demons that have haunted Stevens for most of her life, a deft protest against the state of the world and those maintaining the status quo within it. It’s an angry, unruly record that’s equal parts captivating and devastating. At the same time, however, these deeply personal songs carry a universal sense of resonance – and by sharing them, Stevens allows her listeners to feel less alone at a time when it’s easy to feel completely disconnected.
“I feel like so many of my songs lead back to the same feeling: Being overwhelmed,” she says. “We’re all trying so hard to do the right thing, but not always knowing what that is. We’re trying to make everyone happy, but soon realising that’s impossible."
If these are words you can connect with on a fundamental level, BIG WORRY is the album for you. For those that feel too young to be feeling this old, for those that are desperate to yell into the abyss Garden State style, and for those – most importantly – that can’t shake that big worry.
“I feel my age in this album – which I always thought was scary, but it's actually really cool,” concludes Stevens. “I hope people find something in that."
The PR Files are so glad to be working on the Australian PR for Bec Stevens, in conjunction with Damaged Record Co.

Hobart Based, chilled pop groovers Kudo Joy have just released their debut EP titled “Premonition,” comprising six enthralling tracks that give us our daily dose of indie groove.
Along with this release, Kudu Joy are continuing their visual story with part two of the EP’s film, which plays to the track “Clarity,” a joyful story of gathering new friends and support, still within this tarot card world.
Lead vocalist, Sabine Bester, expressed her friendships and love ending, changing, shifting, then growing, inspiring her thought and writing process for the track ‘Clarity.’ “I kind of created my own mantra to help me move forward, and embrace the new community I now have around me. Lyrically, it expresses the weightlessness that comes from letting go of toxicity. Musically, it makes me dance, which is eternally good for your health. And visually, it shows a woman in a ridiculous two-piece metallic jacket and shorts (sewn by yours truly), fanging a dirt bike across the West coast of Tassie, then having a bit of a sand dune party with her stunning friends. It's a radiant expression of gratification.”
The band have spent the last summer gigging around Tassie, highlights being A Festival Called Panama, Day On The Lawn, and having recently supported The Veronicas in Hobart. The band consists of Sabine Bester on Vocals and Trumpet, Thomas Hann on Guitar and Vocals, Jay Jarome on Keys and Vocals, Sasha Gavleck on Bass and Lewis Elliot on drums.
Sabine started performing with her musician parents when she was a kid, learning to sing traditional Balkan music from her mother. After studying Jazz at the Conservatorium of Music in Hobart, she went on to form a band for her original songs in 2018. Like most Tasmanian kids, Sabine grew up sailing boats with her family accompanied by camping trips to secluded parts of the island. Campfire sing-alongs with her family friends were often a mix of Balkan songs from her parents and Irish reels from the other families.
The PR Files are so excited to be working with Kudo Joy!
Yirrmal is the powerful voice of Indigenous beauty that we’re in awe of, and his singer-songwriter capabilities are a testament to his passionate outlook and contribution to his land and his ancestry. Through uplifting songs that tell tales of beauty, hardship, and the perception of inner-self, Yirrmal expresses these in a way that captivates the listener never to switch off the repeat button.
The rising star from the Rirratjingu clan group in the remote North East Arnhem Land community of Yirrkala evokes thought-provoking and storytelling performances in ways that make us grateful for the land we walk on and the people and beauty we’re surrounded by.
Yirrmal expresses his approach to being the captain of his own musical ship, in which he states, “I am comfortable that this music is different, it’s unique, and it might challenge people to rethink how they define different genres of music, or what my music should sound like. I want people to forget about their troubles for a while, to live in the moment, and just enjoy this music.”
Having previously co-wrote three of Baker Boys’ tracks and vocally featured on his 2017 track “Marryuna,” the track zoomed into the 17th spot in triple j’s Hottest 100 of that year. Yirrmal further collaborated with Baker Boy on tracks “Ride” and “Somewhere Deep,” featured on Baker Boy’s debut 2021 album titled “Gela”.
The PR Files is ecstatic to collaborate with Yirrmal as he reaches new success in his musical journey.
Sydney bedroom pop songwriter-performer-producer, Thomas Porter, has joined forces with rising Canberra pop star, Lucy Sugerman, to deliver the superb and adorable new single, ‘Headache’, out now via Dew Process.
The Sydney-based musician Thomas Porter is an exciting new entrance to the Australian indie-pop scene. He first discovered a love of writing music as an 11-year-old while teaching himself to play the piano at home–refusing to take more lessons alongside his already gruelling school schedule and instead teaching himself piano so he could write music on his own. He then learned how to sing after signing up for the school play at 12–making one hell of an Artful Dodger in Oliver and discovering how to project his voice in a new way. From this, the music of today’s Thomas Porter was finally born–producing, writing and mixing everything himself.
Recently unveiled his debut EP, Manic Pixie Dream Girl, landing him the cover of Spotify’s Softly and Pop n’ Fresh playlists and additions to Front Left, Bedroom Pop, New Music Friday AU & NZ, and more.
Bold and unafraid to speak her mind, twenty year old Lucy Sugerman writes about her coming of age experiences of modern love and life, inspired by her songwriting heroes from the 70s. With a knack for confessional storytelling tied with assured pop hooks, Sugerman’s addictive and youthful energy perpetuates her music, even in her most vulnerable moments.
In 2021, Lucy opened SummerSalt Festival in Canberra, joining a lineup alongside Montaigne, Boy & Bear, John Butler, the Teskey Brothers and the Cat Empire. Lucy independently released her debut EP ‘hurt that’s man made’ released in November 2021.
In 2022, Sugerman won triple j Unearthed’s Groovin the Moo competition to perform at the festival and was named a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist. She also collaborated on a release with AYA YVES on the track “Feels Alright” and opened for Charley at Mary’s Underground in Sydney. Sugerman lets people into her world through relatable tales of her struggles and triumphs in romance and growing up, showing that they are not alone and cathartically capturing the spirit in learning from your own experiences.
Together, Thomas and Lucy have graced us with their track “Headache”. The track's quirky lyrics describe the aftermath of an awkward hook-up, when one of the participants just won't leave and the two sides of the situation engage in a cheeky back-and-forth exchange, soundtracked by gentle, bright guitar strums, producing a precious pop gem.
The PR Files are so excited to be working with both Thomas Porter and Lucy Sugerman in conjunction with Dew Process.

Ally Palmer is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, a surfer and environmentalist at heart. Her smooth harmonies and laid back style provide feel good vibes for those hot summer days spent by the ocean. Combining old school soul with smooth and uplifting lyrics, Ally’s music will have you adopting the Byron Bay ethos ‘Cheers Up, Slow Down, Chill Out’ in no time.
On the shores of the Byron Bay coastline, Ally Palmer can be found strumming and singing her sensitive and soulful indie folk. When she’s not cruising in her aqua-blue Kombi van and channeling an iconic 60’s surf pop vibe, she is creating beautiful, heartfelt songs that reveal her enticing blend of vulnerability and strength. Her smooth harmonies and laid back style provide feel good vibes for those hot summer days spent by the ocean.
After touring Australia as a keyboardist for a range of bands and artists, in 2016 Ally decided to take the plunge and pursue her original music. She has since released two EP’s, both receiving Australia wide radio airplay and gaining herself a spot at 2017’s Byron Bay Bluesfest. The film clip for her most recent release, ‘Takin’ It Easy’ received viral attention, gaining over 100K views on Facebook.
Originally a solo artist, in 2020 Ally started collaborating with additional musicians, to breathe depth and expansion into her songs and produce a groove based sound ideally suited to a live setting. This new direction has injected more soul into the sound.
Need You Around is the last single Ally will release from her debut album. The track is an ode to the music Ally listens to and loves most. The track's upbeat, funky, folk/soul vibe reveals Ally’s musical background playing keyboard. Need You Around delves into loneliness and love, something we can all relate to. The instrumentation is like something straight out of the 60’s, and will get you up and grooving every time you hear it. This was the first track Ally wrote for her debut album, engineered and mixed by Paul Pilsneniks.
Hot on the heels of the deliciously dark single “I Hate Your Girlfriend”, comes the complete EP Wine Drunk from Australian-born singer-songwriter Katie Thorne, a flirtatious, jazz-affected pop debut several years (and heartbreaks) in the making.
Produced by ARIA-winner Peter Holz (Gang Of Youths, Peking Duk, Vance Joy), Wine Drunk is a much-anticipated release from the breakout singer-songwriter whose confessional, woozy style is unlike anything in Australian music right now.
Individually beguiling, collectively intoxicating, the songs on Wine Drunk trace the lifecycle of heartbreak, from cautious, giddy beginnings to desperation and self-destruction. We fade in on the title track Wine Drunk drugged with the lustful purple haze of early romance, followed by an indie-pop palate cleanser and the first signs of uncertainty in Team Sports. Then strikes the ethereal loneliness of In My Room (the first single from the project, released in November 2021), which twists into gleeful obsession and jealousy in I Hate Your Girlfriend, finally arriving at the stripped-back hit-you-right-in-the-guts finale ballad, New Year’s in London.
conceptually it is enchanting; musically, it is masterful –skilled storytelling and rich, haunting vocals alongside full-bodied, multi-instrumental arrangements. Despite an unassuming pop filter and a sense of fun, ‘Wine Drunk’ doesn’t compromise on musicality, tactile production details and blood-pumping chorus breaks.
‘Wine Drunk’ is a quarter-life crisis in the uber ride home, half-cut thoughts and anxious daydreams – a dedication to being giddy and young and a little bit broken. Groovy, soulful and self-aware, this EP can be knocked back in one gulp but tastes even better with time. You’ll want to indulge again and again.
The PR Files are thrilled to be part of Katie Thorne’s journey!
English born and raised in Albury, New South Wales, Australia based singer songwriter Lisa Mitchell has re-emerged to announce her latest single “I Believe in Kindness.” Lisa is renowned for her beguiling melodies and hushed tones whether playing crystal pure folk such as in the sublime “Pirouette”, or wrapped-up in subtle electro beats such as 2016’s “The Boys”, or the always-popular “Coin Laundry”.
This theme of embracing humility and dismantling oneself in order to grow and do better in the world is the clarion call of Mitchell’s work. When she returned to Australia after years spent living in London, she committed herself to learning about her own place as a settler in Australia, and her responsibility to address that not just in her work but in her daily practice of living. She enrolled in Indigenous Studies, learning about the languages, history and traditional Cultures of the lands she was striving to tell stories on. Motivated by this unraveling of self, she began to explore her Celtic history and to study the Scottish Gaelic of her ancestors.
We have a collective cultural memory of Mitchell as a teenage girl appearing on a reality television show, but she has grown so far beyond the hesitancy and insecurity of youth. After crash-landing into the music industry while still at school, Lisa released her debut EP when she was just 17, and her second at 18; both accomplished folk pieces harbouring pop ambitions. Mitchell’s full-length debut, “Wonder”, delivered on their promise, reaching No. 6 in Australia and going Platinum. Countless Australian, UK and European tours and festival appearances followed. With highlights such as a spot at Glastonbury, many ARIA Nominations, and winning the Australian Music Prize.
So strong is that growing connection to her Celtic heritage that you cannot help but think of our own cultural motifs and tropes in relation to that.
Mitchell has just released her brand new fourth studio album “A Place To Fall Apart” via Believe, along with the accompanying Album Launch Tour starting Friday May 20 in Red Hill. A Place To Fall Apart is produced by Tom Iansek (Big Scary / #1Dads) and features the new single “I Believe In Kindness” and “Summoning”.
A rarity in the Australian music scene, Bri Clark, blesses listeners with electronic flair and an emotional twist on pop melodies to fill our craving for romance-driven love songs. Originally from Perth, Bri’s singer songwriter talents offer prime insight into intimacy, passion, and sorrow as she perfectly represents the tempestuousness of what it’s like to dive into romance.
Her debut album ‘Waiting’ acts as a digital telescope, peering into the realities of relationships, and the hardships, beauties, and finer details that encompass the journey of falling in and out of love. Encompassing eleven tracks, moving through emotional intensity like pages of a book, Bri’s relatability makes us feel safe and accepted as we too navigate the turbulent nature of life's love and connection experiences.
It’s no denying that Bri’s music has shaken us with hard hitting truths on the ways in which relationships can form and crumble in the blink of an eye. The raw and tender lyricism allows the audience to reflect on their own experiences, to improve our understanding of how relationships may not seem so black and white.
Speaking on the album, Bri described “I wanted the tracklisting of this album to be like chapters of an audiobook, detailing the relationship grief and acceptance process.”
Bri Clark continually delivers with her hypnotizing live performances as she moves from emotion to emotion, allowing the audience to leave with new and powerful eyes. Having previously supported phenomenal acts such as Middle Kids, Ainslie Wills, Holy Holy, Ben Abraham, Clare Bowditch and Airling, further having headlined her own shows in Melbourne and Perth, Bri has proven her dominance within the industry, and we can all take notes from her unapologetic presence in the industry.
Acclaimed, GRAMMY-winning French band Phoenix are the perfect feel-good pop band that encapsulates the purity in dancing like no one else is around. With a funky persona and infectious melodies, the band knows how to get an audience up and grooving.
Produced by the band themselves, and recorded in Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs, which sits in the Palais du Louvre, Alpha Zulu is everything Phoenix does best: effortlessly catchy melodies married with always-innovative production.
Indeed, Alpha Zulu – the band’s first album since 2017’s critically acclaimed record Ti Amo – is an immediate reminder of what has made Phoenix one of the most beloved artists of the last two decades, reinforcing the band’s enduring – and continued – influence on pop culture.

90ivy (formerly The Flowers) are the definition of the soft groove as they create the dreamiest of tracks that expand our imaginative senses. Through prominent guitar strings and a strong female vocal lead, the indie-pop band have proven their dominance in the Australian music scene. The ever-evolving and powerfully graceful foursome are easy to fall in love with as their relatability radar is off the chain, having a strong balance of happy-sad tunes that’s admirable in maintaining.
The Sydney-based band have recently released their latest single, “Shoes On The Dash”. Providing the sweetest melodies and a radiant aura that’s hard to look past, their happy-sad persona makes the foursome relatable to the masses, adding a comforting element to the music scene as we listen with awe and empathy. The track comes as part of their upcoming EP set to drop later this year.
Speaking on the track, the band said, “The past couple of years has really shaken up a lot of people’s perspectives on what’s important in life and how they want to spend their short time on earth, and Shoes On The Dash is about just that. I wrote the first verse when during a very stressful period of my life - I was doing way too much and putting a lot of pressure on myself. I lost touch with writing music and making art.
The chorus came later in the songwriting process, almost like an epiphany - kick back, go on a road trip, make art, freaking enjoy life, that’s what the chorus is trying to say, whilst not simplifying the endeavour of “being happy” either, because this crazy world we live in can certainly get in the way of that sometimes.”
Formed in 2019, the band created all of their releases in partnership with producer/engineer Pete Holz (Gang Of Youths, Peking Duk, Vance Joy). 90ivy have also taken inspiration from Hatchie's "Sure" and Alvvays' "Archie, Marry Me." Lush guitars, the 90’s vocal quality and bouncy melodies that engulf these songs were heavily influential in 90ivy’s song-making process.
Their releases have gained immense support from Spotify [‘New Music Friday’ (AU/NZ + IND), ‘fuzzy’, ‘Fresh Finds: Rock’] and Apple Music [‘New Music Daily’ (AUS), ‘New In Indie’ (USA) and ‘Today’s Indie Rock’ (USA)]. The band has also previously supported many of Australia’s most exciting artists on the come-up, such as EGOISM, Great Gable, CLEWS, Yorke, Jess Day, Obscura Hail, Teenage Dads, Etc, Moving Stills, The Million and Timi Temple.
Following on from the release of their highly successful first 2022 single, “Tiffany,” 90ivy performed a celebratory show at one of Sydney’s most iconic music venues, Oxford Art Factory, with a sold out show in April this year. It is expected that the band will have a strong lineup of support shows in the works and a headline tour on the horizon later this year.
Their 2022 EP is set to release late this year, and we encourage everyone to keep their eyes peeled for more details to become announced soon.
The PR Files are proud to be working with 90ivy and can’t wait to see what’s in store for them.

Mo•Louie is the moniker for Melbourne-based artist Monique (Mo) Sesto. Her loud, playful and crazy personality shines through her music. Her latest single, "Signs”, is out on 27th April.
In "Signs," Mo•Louie takes an introspective look at the quirks of reading into ideas and objects, exploring how the mind can attach meaning to them and how it can impact one's life. The track introduces the sonic wonderland that lives within Mo•Louie’s brain, brought to life with pulsing grooves, sporadic synth and sample delights paving a bed for Mo’s lush and sultry vocals to lie in. Drawing on influences from realms of experimental, alt-electronic pop and movie soundtracks, "Signs" features a mesmerising sound design reminiscent of Kimbra's latest work with a Mura Masa-inspired groove.
Reflecting on the track, Mo says, “Signs, for me, represent our brains delving deep into the meanings of inanimate objects & ideas (like horoscopes, myths or superstitions) in order for us to make sense of things, which is beautifully peculiar. Many times in my life, I have attached good or bad things that happened to me with a superstition or ‘sign’, and my mind goes wild trying to make connections. It has gotten a bit sinister at times, and I started believing these things so much that it would affect my life. I look back and reflect and see how powerfully creative your mind can become deciphering these fictions. I wanted to represent this with intricate & interesting synth sounds and samples, nostalgic moments, and a playground for the sounds going wild (like one’s mind). So I was very particular in creating this song's sounds and world down to the last detail.”
Mo released her debut single, “She Said,” in November 2016. The electronic/synth-produced track made the Semi-Finals of ‘The International Songwriting Competition 2016’. Written and produced by Mo•Louie and mastered by Simon Lam, Mo’s debut EP Fire Brick (2017) was celebrated by AAA Backstage as; “a collection of genre-agnostic soul excellence.” The EP was launched at Melbourne Music Week in a show co-produced with electronic artists Youthfire & Abraham Tilbury.
Mo released her mixtape An Odd World last year, her first complete body of work mixed and produced by herself and mastered by Becki Whitton. The mixtape includes “Iso Iso Iso Bored”, which was described by Forté Magazine as; “exciting, intoxicating and all out relatable”. Mo released her second single, “Survivin”, ft to end a solid year. Youthfire’ premiered on JOY FM radio and was featured on Acid Stag’s Friday Favourites and described as; “very cool, unique and interesting.”
The PR Files is excited to work with Mo•Louie as she takes her career to the next level!

JJ Wilde sings from down deep, telling her soulful stories in a voice that embraces the legacy of Rock n Roll, and brings it into the 21st century. Hailing from Canada, JJ’s most recent EP “Wilde” is all of the above.
With music that has been called “ripe and ready for stereo cranking” (American Songwriter) while also being “emotionally raw” (Earmilk) in its lyrical content, Wilde has been making waves since her debut album “Ruthless” was released in 2020.
Ever the trailblazer, Wilde made history in 2020 as the first female artist to simultaneously hit #1 on all three Canadian rock charts with her debut single “The Rush”, holding the slot for a whopping 19 weeks and earning her a nomination for the SOCAN Rock Music Award. Titled "a voice that commands the stage .... an undeniable rock star in the making," by BBC Radio 1's Jack Saunders, Kitchener-based JJ Wilde, is the breakthrough new voice of a movement of independent female artists who have characterized Rock n Roll music over the past decade.
The PR Files are extremely grateful to be working on the publicity for JJ Wilde, alongside Black Box.

Accompanied by the powerful burst of Scott’s breathy vocals and upbeat production, the single encapsulates the energy of the entire EP.
Building the suspense for the EP Scott’s most recent single “I Wanted To Call Her But I’m Tragic & She’s Overseas (8 Months)”, a collab with Mel Blue, was featured on Spotify’s ‘Front Left’ playlist with over half a million followers, using Lola’s image as the playlist cover. Lavrence, from the Queer fringes of Sydney has arrived. Posing the question - why exist quietly when your true self is just waiting to shine? The singer-songwriter was ecstatic to share the universe he has lovingly created.
Growing up in a music obsessed household, Lavrence’s taste for performance was quickly established as he’d race home from school each day to perform “Spice” by The Spice Girls (dressing up as either Ginger or Posh). He later honed these skills at a performance arts high school where he studied singing, dancing & acting.
Lavrence followed up his 2019 hit single “My Space” with an equally joyous and life-affirming track, “Radio Man”. He is now gearing up for more releases into 2020.
The PR Files are absolutely thrilled to have worked with Lavrence on his Australian PR for more than a year.
An exponent of moody, alternative pop, Sydney-based singer-songwriter and producer Jordan Laser creates songs that are arrows aimed straight at the heart. Reminiscent of some of her musical heroes – Kate Bush, Massive Attack and Stevie Nicks – her songs are also indicative of something much deeper: an ancestral line of musicians.
Jordan has been pursuing music with fierce dedication since she was a child. At the age of 7 she began playing piano; by the time she was 13 she was writing songs. Her first EP was recorded with Jim Moginie and Rob Hirst from Midnight Oil, and these songs established her as an artist with a promising future. She then stepped away from releasing music & live performance in order to expand her sound palette and recast herself as a producer.
The PR Files are excited to be working with Jordan Laser on her upcoming releases.

As a teenager in a producer duo project SŸDE, will hyde found early success to the tune of over 65 million streams and nearly 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, including praise from triple j (including being 2017 Unearthed High finalists). However, as SŸDE’s profile rose so did Will’s detachment from the commercial beats behind his name. Fortunately, taking the risk to leave behind a fracturing relationship with his musical partner and bring SŸDE to a standstill would have its own rewards.
Now writing and performing his own music and no longer just producing, will hyde is finally able to flaunt his boisterous personality in a solo project that glides beyond genre or hype. His new music shines with texture and a relatable balance of joy and melancholy that his older production couldn’t evoke on its own.
The PR Files are thrilled to be working on publicity for will hyde alongside Bear & Owl and The Orchard.
Slowly Slowly frontman Ben Stewart has taken a new direction with his solo project Congrats, releasing the first tastes of a larger body of work, produced by ARIA Award nominee Konstantin Kersting (Mallrat, Tones & I, Jungle Giants).

The result is the powerful, soaring debut single in “Russian Roulette” with an EP set to follow later in 2020 via new label partner and Australian indie stalwarts Dew Process – a prospect that Stewart is clearly primed for.
The PR Files are thrilled to be working on the publicity for Congrats’ 2020 releases, alongside Dew Process.
